The East Bay Bicycle Coalition is seeking a dedicated Membership Fellow to join the team this August. Our Membership Fellow will manage the day to day operations of the membership program, and help propel us past the 4,000 member mark by the end of 2012. The Membership Fellow is actively involved in engaging people around regional transportation issues while building the community of bicyclists in the East Bay. This is a part-time paid position with an initial three-month commitment. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to [email protected] before July 17th.

Tasks will include assisting in and leading projects in membership processing, new member outreach, membership database enhancements, working with local bike shops and EBBC’s Bike Shop Coordinator, business membership outreach, research, donor acquisition and cultivation, special membership event coordination, leading volunteer phone banking, grant research and writing, website updating, social media communications to increase EBBC’s visibility and more.

This is an excellent opportunity for a “people person” who’s interested in building sustainable cities to experience a vibrant and growing nonprofit organization.

This fellowship is a great way to build your resume, and gain experience that will be valuable at any nonprofit organization. This fellowship offers a partially flexible schedule with a sixteen-hour per week commitment. Those hours will include occasional evening and weekend work. The fellow will be compensated with a competitive stipend.

Skills & Knowledge to be Gained

  • Nonprofit experience
  • Project management skills by helping organize larger projects
  • Database and website skills, including programming, scripts, and work flow enhancements
  • Experience building new marketing and outreach plans
  • Social media communications, including Twitter, Facebook, Flickr etc,
  • Opportunity to create great writing samples for future job interviews
  • Inside experience with a highly active and growing grassroots movement
  • Academic credit, by working with your academic institution’s internship program

Helpful Skills:

  • Web/HTML experience
  • Experience volunteering and/or managing volunteers
  • Graphics savvy (Adobe Indesign, Photoshop)
  • Upbeat (yet professional) writing style
  • Familiarity with bicycling in the East Bay
  • Commitment to building a bike-friendly East Bay
