Learn to Ride

I decided to begin accepting students who have never learned to ride a bike. For now I can take students near BART in Fremont, Union City, Hayward, Castro Valley. For Pleasanton find a common location near old town.

My teachstreet entry can be found here.

Caltrans wants to install rumble strips on Niles Canyon

http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist4/documents/eir_ea_2a3300_ded_final_web.pdf

Reading section 1, CalTrans is proposing widening parts of Niles Canyon Road north of Palomares Rd. As well as installing shoulder rumble strips. There are two major problems I have with this.

1. There is a major need to address northbound Niles Canyon Road traffic turning left onto Palomares Road. It was my understanding that this proposal was to include this feature. What is needed is roadway design to include a left turn pocket. This will eliminate the need for cyclists to ride wrongway head-on into traffic.

CA license plate 5CPY979, dark green 5 series BMW, sexual assault on cyclists

In Fremont today, the above car assaulted a number of cyclists on Paseo Padres and Mission Blvd. The car would veer at high speed close to the cyclist and give them a slap on the buttocks. Fremont Police are treating this as a sexual assault.

Keep an eye out for this vehicle.

Graduated first class from Road Cycling Program

Castro Valley Adult School graduated four students from the nine week, 18 hour Road Cycling program. The students learned bike mechanics and repair, vehicular cycling skills, and to make their own nifty bike gadgets. The focus of the program is to provide personal one-on-one cycling coaching while on the road cycling every class. The progressive nature of the class builds on each meeting allowing students to practice at home, and to develop physical conditioning to go on longer and more challenging outings.
